Greenfield Architects Completes Design for Penn State Health Lancaster Pediatric Center

Greenfield Architects recently finished designing the Penn State Health Lancaster Pediatric Center. This 47,000-square-foot facility, located at 1430 Harrisburg Pike, was repurposed from the former Toys R’ Us store at The Crossings at Conestoga Creek.

The center will offer over 20 pediatric specialties and subspecialties, including cardiology, dermatology, and neurology, along with 46 spacious exam rooms, ensuring ample space for patient evaluations and treatments.

Greenfield Architects transformed the retail space into a state-of-the-art healthcare facility by replacing the entire CMU facade, skillfully adapting the steel skeleton, foundation, concrete slab, and a substantial portion of the existing roof. IKM Architecture will complete the interior design.

Situated on 6.3 acres, the pediatric center sits opposite Long’s Park and adjacent to The Crossings. This center exemplifies adaptive reuse and sustainable development.

The former Toys R Us affiliate vacated the building in June 2018 due to bankruptcy. High Real Estate Group, the developer of The Crossings, acquired the property in May 2019, breathing new life into the space.

High Construction Company is the general contractor for this project.
