Project Details
Facility: New Water Service Pump Station
Size: 2,000 SF Building
Location: Lancaster, PA
Services/Scope Provided: Architectural Design
This project involved the design of a new one-story, 2,000 square foot facility that will house the twin booster pumps for the 24-inch loop main, along with essential support facilities. This includes water pumping equipment, HVAC, mechanical feed, electrical systems, and site improvements surrounding the Pump Station.
The design of the building is carefully crafted to blend seamlessly with the well-established, rapidly growing residential neighborhood where it is located. Situated on a corner lot that is highly visible to the public, the building adopts a residential scale, form, siting, and material composition that harmonizes with the existing homes in the vicinity.
Incorporating insulated concrete masonry units and insulated sound-absorbing concrete masonry units, the structure is designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The exterior materials and architectural embellishments were meticulously chosen to complement the other residential units within the development. Additionally, mechanical elements such as intake/exhaust louvers are cleverly concealed using architectural quality products to maintain the residential look and feel.
The landscaping plan plays a vital role in integrating the facility into the neighborhood. A selection of landscaping plants not only meets the visual buffer requirements set by municipal codes but also adds seasonal color and enhances the overall appearance of the site.
