Retail at The Crossings at Conestoga Creek is a lifestyle shopping center, a first project of its kind in the Lancaster market designed by Greenfield Architects. Approximately 650,000 square feet of space was dedicated to shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Creating a memorable place where people can experience a variety of activities was the vision - from visiting new stores and eating at new restaurants to relaxing by the outdoor fireplace or exploring nature trails.
Through the development of this industrially zoned site, and as required by local ordinance, farmland was preserved through the purchase of 57 transferable development rights, equating to 40.88 acres of preserved farmland. The overall project includes restoration and improvement of two waterways in the vicinity of the site, the Little Conestoga Creek and an additional unnamed tributary, in collaboration with the local watershed alliance (Little Conestoga Watershed Alliance) and other environmental experts. A historically significant farmhouse was also preserved as part of the project. The project's design complements Long's Park, a beautiful and serene landmark across the street. A renowned, award-winning Wegman's food market anchors the development.
